How Do I Register My Player?

Glenview AYSO hosts a Fall/Spring soccer program. The Standard registration includes the Fall with a continuation in the Spring -- same team, same coach, same uniform. There is no need to re-register if you played in the Fall.
We offer an optional Spring-Only registration where players are assigned to team slots vacated by Fall-Only players.

Registration Dates

  • Full Fall+Spring season: Early Bird registration with discounted rates runs May 15th through June 15th. The standard rate will apply after that. Waitlist registration begins on July 1.
  • Spring-Only season: Waitlist registration opens Jan 15 through February 28.  Spring-Only registrants are placed on teams from the Fall with available roster slots.
  • Glenview AYSO no longer offers a Fall-Only registration option.

Division Assignments

Division Names & Player Assignments

Our divisions are designed to align with the local school academic calendar, with September 1 used as a default cutoff between divisions. Players may be moved into an older division with an evaluation by our professional training partners. If a player is born in August, but was held back a year in school, they may play in the same division as their academic grade level. Please contact [email protected] to request a manual division change.

Team Formation

Team Formation

When will I know if my child has been placed on a team?

Playground & 5U Divisions:

The Playground and U5 program structure enables all kids to play, even if they register after the deadline.

6U-14U Divisions:

FALL: Team are formed with volunteer coaches and final rosters in mid August, then announced via email to all parents. Coaches will be contacting parents shortly thereafter to set up a team meeting and begin practices. Team slots can later become available, with late & waitlisted registrants being added up through the first game of the season.

SPRING: The Standard registration includes the Fall and Spring, and team rosters are maintained for both seasons. Spring-Only registration opens in January for placement on a team with Fall player(s) who've departed. New placements won't begin until mid-March, after we learn which Fall-Only players elect not to return for the Spring. Parents will be notified with details on their team via email

Important Notes:

  • Spring-Only registration does not guarantee a roster spot on a team. Spots are filled from the Spring wait-list on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Many players who initially register for the entire year will drop out over the Winter with no notification. Sometimes we can place Spring-Only registrants up through the first game in April.

Can I request another player to be on my team?

Glenview AYSO allows requests from two coach volunteers and a referee volunteer to work together on a team. Referee volunteers must either be certified or have completed all online training and registered for a certification course prior to teams being formed to join the volunteer group. No additional requests for volunteer groupings or player pairings will be honored. We understand how this can complicate carpooling or may place close friends or neighbors on separate teams. Balancing teams, however, is a core principle of AYSO and needs to be our first priority.

How do we balance teams?

In order to balance teams we depend on our coaches from the previous season to rate our players on teamwork, technical skills, and overall impact on the game. These ratings begin with players in 6U. All teams beginning in 7U are formed based on these ratings. If a player is not rated we will still add them to a team with an assumption of an average player rating. Teams in 6U are formed based largely on school and home address.
