The Glenbrook Strikers - 13U & 14U Travel Club

We are excited to establish the Fall of 2019 as the Glenbrook Strikers’ inaugural season. Serving the Northbrook and Glenview communities, the Glenbrook Strikers is a competitive travel club built on the core principles of positive coaching, player development and good sportsmanship.

Glenview AYSO has expanded its partnership with P2 Soccer Training to lead the skills development program and mange team coaching. As a not for profit organization with low administrative costs, the Strikers can offer an excellent player training program without excessive player fees.

What is the cost?
Program fees for a club player is $1,200 plus $175 for team uniform sets. The program fee includes club training, matches, multiple tournaments and participation in Glenview AYSO’s Core program along with its additional P2 Soccer-led skills clinics.

What ages are eligible for club soccer?
Our club will feature boys & girls teams at the 13U & 14U levels. We follow US Soccer’s criteria for eligibility– players born in 2007 play on a 13U team; 2006 kids play in the 14U division. Our goal is two teams for each gender however, at the onset of our program, we may combine age groups for the upcoming season.

How are we different from other programs?
Players in the Strikers club program participate in intense competition and receive cutting-edge training while still enjoying the benefits of AYSO and its player philosophies. "Development over Winning" is our mantra. Our coaches take a positive approach during practices and games. No player spends an entire match sitting on the bench, only to be rotated in for 5 minutes before the end of each half.

What does Player Development entail?
Player development covers all key game elements of the game: dribbling moves, shooting and finishing, defending, first touch control, passing and receiving, support play and use of space, team attack and team defending. Beyond the fundamental technical skills, players learn the foundations of tactics and concepts in a small group and team setting. We feel this is an essential component to understand the game and perform on a higher level.

Who are the coaches?
P2 Soccer shares a passion for soccer with thousands of youth soccer players in the Chicagoland area. More information can be found on the P2 Soccer site.
Dave Barlow is the Strikers’ Director of Coaching. He hails from Middlesbrough, UK and maintains a UEFA C license and FA level 1 coaching certifications.

Who do we play?
The Strikers are associated with Illinois’ YSSL and IWSL club soccer leagues, competing against club teams in the Chicagoland area.  Home games will be played in Northbrook and Glenview. Extended opportunities are also available for players to join a Glenview AYSO Core team and compete within its interregional league.

When is the season?
Training sessions begin in mid-August to prepare for the Fall season running from September into early November. Practices will resume in mid-March for the Spring 2020 season, which ends in early June.

What are the commitments for practice?
Training sessions for each Strikers team are held twice a week for up to 2 hours. Team training will be scheduled for weekdays between 4:30 & 7:30p. Attendance at training is expected of all players, along with the hard work and dedication to bring their game play to ever higher levels.
