Week Wrap-Up - U13 Blue Girls Keep Rolling

U13 Blue Girls 7 - Arlington Aces White 0

The U13 Blue Girls are off to a very strong start this season with a 4-0 record.  Their home opening 7-1 victory against the Chicago Fire Juniors set the tone.  The girls' success continued first on the road at Palatine in week 2 with a 3-2 victory, and then again back home against Lake Forest with a 4-0 shutout. During this past weekend, the Cougars traveled to Arlington Heights for a 7-0 rout against the Aces. Leading scorers throughout the first four games of the season are Alex L., Ryan S. and Ellen S.. The relentless Cougar defense which has only given up 3 goals in 4 games is led by Piper B., Leah W. and Ellie Z.. Goalkeeper Cassie P. has made spectacular saves, including denying a penalty kick in the first game.  Their coaches attribute the girls' success to playing with a lot of heart and working together as a team.  The U13 girls play their next game this Sunday, 10/6, at the Vernon Hills High School Stadium at 1:00PM against Elmwood Park Express. Go VHSC!

U12 Blue Girls 1 - FCB Black 1

After a somewhat disappointing defeat to the Lincolnshire Lightning on Saturday (goals scored by Abby K. and Lily B.), the U12 Blue Girls showed a lot of heart and determination in a 1-1 draw against a strong FCB team.  Brooke P. put VHSC in front and Nikki K. was tremendous in goal throughout the game.  The team plays Park Ridge Orange this weekend at Deerpath.

U12 Red Girls 3 - Schwaben Olympics 1
U12 Red Girls 1 - HP Elite 1

The U12 Red Girls impressed this weekend with a win and a draw.  On Saturday, Abby T. scored two early goals and Julia K. added one late in a 3-1 away win over Schwaben Olympics.  Abby B., Brynn Z., and Annalise B. controlled the midfield throughout and Maddie B. created a lot of scoring chances.  On Sunday the girls had a tougher task.  Two players were out due to injury so the girls had to dig deep.  Meghan C. was sensational in goal in the first half keeping a clean sheet and Jacklyn K. was equally as strong in goal in the second half.  Laine L., Abby T., Addie S., and Gillian G. played as a cohesive defensive unit throughout the game and filling in admirably for their injured teammates.  A penalty kick gave HP Elite the lead with about 5 minutes to play, but these girls did not give up.  A great through pass from Abby T. sent Julia K. on goal and she rifled a shot into the back of the net for the tie.  "The heart and passion of these girls is something I can't teach, but it makes me very proud" said Coach Kempf after the game.
