Referee training in Glenview is going on now. If you are a new Referee (or an existing U8 Official), now is the time to train as a Basic Referee. The first step is to attend one of these classes.

The U8 and Basic Referee training class will be repeated several times. Classes will be held at the Glenview Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave, Glenview, IL. There is no cost to attend. No Soccer Experience is necessary. Dads AND Moms welcome!Uniform and kit is provided upon certification.

** U8-certified Officials can officiate Kindergarten up to 3rd grade games. For 3rd grade it is recommended that existing U8 officials complete the Basic-certification training to be most effective.

** Basic-certified referees can officiate 3rd and 4th grade and assist at higher levels

*** Safe Haven Certification is required for all new referee volunteers!!  If you have previously taken Safe Haven as a Coach or other AYSO volunteer you do not have to take this segment.

There are a couple of simple things you need to do to register for any of these classes.

1. If you already renewed your volunteer info at registration, go to the next step. If not:
Glenview AYSO: go to www.eayso.org, create or update and print your volunteer form (this is done 1x per year.) This is for your protection as a volunteer.  Bring it and ID (driver license) with you to the class.
Outside Glenview: Please complete a current volunteer form and turn it into to your region.

2. In eAYSO.org, sign up for the Referee class (under the "Course" tab, search 'Glenview') for the (make sure to select the correct date) U8 Official- with Safe Haven or U8-to-Basic Referee Upgrade Course or Intermediate Referee Course. If you have previously completed a Referee or Coach Safe Haven, you can arrive a bit later (30 mins) after the scheduled start of the class.

These certification courses address all aspects of the game enabling new or U8 Referees be aware of game activity, keeping it Safe, Fun & Fair. Each class agenda addresses awareness of child development stages and touchline management issues (working with coaches and parents), the Laws of the Game (For Basic Referees: including introduction to Off-side and Fouls & Misconduct) and a discussion of age-appropriate application of these Referee tools.

AYSO is an all-volunteer organization. If no one on the team volunteers to Referee, there will be no Referee at the game.
