AYSO EXTRA, a PROGRESSIVE PLAYER PROGRAM, is designed for players who have the interest, skills and abilities and want to enhance their experience and individual growth through soccer while retaining the spirit of and organization membership in AYSO. EXTRA is not designed to overshadow or harm the standard primary program rather the goal is to strengthen AYSO by recruiting and retaining players and volunteers through providing more competitive play the AYSO way, the EXTRA program embraces the Six Philosophies of AYSO: Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship and Player Development.
In Glenview, Region #362, players are rostered on an EXTRA team and a primary program team at the same time and participate fully with both teams.
EXTRA Program Highlights:
- A travel-style soccer program with Professional Soccer Trainers partnered with traditional AYSO-trained volunteer coaches
- Must be registered for upcoming season for Glenview AYSO primary program to tryout
- Opponents are from other AYSO EXTRA programs in Chicago and surrounding suburbs
- Program tracks game standings has playoff format and tournament in Spring
- EXTRA Program player fees for Fall 2011 & Spring 2012 season = $395
